White Water Rafting

 

 

Costa Rica offers some of the world's finest whitewater rafting and kayaking rivers. Wild and untamed, these big, brash rivers plunge through spectacularly beautiful, largely unexplored tropical wilderness.
The mountainous topography of Costa Rica and the abundant waterfalls are responsible for some of the best rivers to run fast, selected in the world. Nearly half a dozen Raging rivers are running regularly by experienced athletes and these trips on the river not only provide plenty of excitement, they also cross wonderful scenarios. The flocks of enthusiastic athletes not only run the rapids of Costa Rica, but several teams also Olympic kayaks; each year thousands of visitors experience the thrill of running fast for the first time. Costa Rica is the perfect place for the first experience for rafting, because there is great variety of rivers that combine reasonably rapid and beauty that surrounds them. Even there are rivers that are perfect for family outings and to observe birds, from where a shortage of rapid and can be floated through forests full of birds and other animals. In fact almost all the rivers offer the chance to see a bit of wildlife, such as iguanas, blue butterflies, parrots, otters, herons and kingfishers.

Reventazon

The river where rafting started in Costa Rica, these rapids are for rafters who want exciting but forgiving rapids.


Florida Section (Class III)

Exciting rapids, beautiful rainforest and lowland tropical forest, and plentiful wildlife, will treat first-time paddlers to a unique and wet experience.        

Pascua Section (Class IV)
An adrenaline-charged, exciting and scenic trip for paddlers with some experience. Feel the thrill of Class IV-IV+ rafting. All participants must be in good physical condition and ready to remain active all day.

Peralta Section (Class V)
Legendary for its big water and big drops, this section of the Reventazon contains some of the heaviest whitewater in Central America. For experts only, from December through May.

Pacuare
Class III – IV The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This quintessential tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids. Pacuare is considered the most beautiful river in Costa Rica, and worldwide one of the best whitewater rafting rivers due to the scenic beauty, waterfalls, hiking trails and diversity of flora and fauna, among which participants will observe blue morpho butterflies, sloths, tucans, red frogs and great variety of birds. Thus, nature is present throughout the route.

 

Sarapiqui

Class III. The Sarapiquí River offers some of Costa Rica's most enjoyable white water river rafting amidst lush and vibrant scenery. The free-flowing river has its origins in clear mountain streams that tumble down through thick rain forest to merge with the crystal waters of the beautiful Sarapiquí. Verdant forest reaches right up to the river's sun-basked banks.

Savegre
The Savegre River provides Class II, III and some IV rapids savegre the whitewater rapids are exciting, but not so demanding that you won't have time to enjoy the Savegre's spectacular tropical scenery. This is one of the most pristine rivers in the country, and is surrounded by impressive views of the primary rainforest. Lurking just behind the shroud of lush foliage, you will find a number of truly magnificent waterfalls of the Savegre's tributaries.

 

Naranjo
Class III & IV The Naranjo River drops steeply from the mountains above Quepos, through a beautiful jungle gorge and takes you on a wild ride to sea level passing nearby farmlands and palm plantations. Water levels can rise quickly on this river upping the difficulty and adrenaline levels, so rafters should be physically fit and adventures.

 

El General
Popular for kayaking or rafting (Class III-IV) it is better if we run in the top of the rainy season. Available from June to November.

 

Corobici
Near the town of Canas, in Guanacaste, is a river easy for beginners and families (Class I-II) with abundant animal and birding.
