Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin is located at the foot of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, near the town of Curubande, in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
The Hacienda borders the popular Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Since 1985, Hacienda Guachipelin has also been hosting a steady flow of visitors, helping them enjoy the natural beauty of the ranch and the neighboring national park, where you will experience volcanic activity as in no other volcano in Costa Rica.
Natural hot springs, virgin forests, jungle waterfalls and volcanic mud pots are just some of the many attractions tourists can enjoy during a stay at the Hacienda. Together with its strong involvement in ecotourism, Hacienda Guachipelin continues its traditional work of raising cattle and horses.
For the adventurer, there are many activities in the lodge like horseback riding, the Canyon canopy tour, Rio Negro Tubing Adventure, bird watching, as well as trekking to the active craters of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano.
Hacienda Guachipelin is a down-to-earth, yet comfortable hotel catering to nature lovers and adventure travelers. There are 50 rooms, all with their private bathroom and hot water.

Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin is a truly ecotourism lodge for adventure travel and nature lovers. The hotel is surrounded by lush gardens with native trees, exotic flowers and many types of birds, and it has views to both the Rincon de la Vieja volcano and the Pacific ocean. Near the reception area, you will find our corrals, where real cowboys and ranch hands begin working in the early hours each day. Also there are many adventure activities that awaits the adventurer that comes to Costa Rica to do different things like horseback riding, canopy tour, tubing tour on the Rio Negro, and trekking among many other attractions.

Room Description:
From your room, you can enjoy, during the day, the views of the volcano and the hacienda, and relax at night with the real sounds of nature. Outside, wide and inviting verandahs await for sharing afternoon chats with fellow travelers.
The Superior Rooms are bigger and more spacious, and they are located in the newer buildings of the hotel with better views of the area.
The Standard Rooms are located near the Reception Area, the Swimming Pool and the Bar, and the Cattle Corrals.
All the rooms have two beds, either two doubles or one double and one single. Its also possible to include an extra single bed upon request. Each room has a safe deposit box, and a private bathroom with hot water heated by the sun on solar panels.
The Hacienda:
For over 100 years, Hacienda Guachipelin has been a working ranch. In 1975, Tomás Batalla Esquivel, a renowned cattle and pure bred Spanish horse breeder acquired the property. In recent years, don Tomás's children have joined their father in his efforts to further the family legacy.
The property comprises 1600 hectares of land, of which 700 hectares are set aside for the conservation of the tropical dry forest; 575 hectares are used as pastureland; and 325 hectares are being reforested with species in danger of extinction.
The Restaurant:
We are known for our great service, and for having the best food in the area, combining typical national dishes, with international cuisine. From our restaurant "La Hacienda" you can enjoy the views of the Guanacaste lowlands, the city of Liberia, the Liberia International Airport and the coastal lines, or see the vaqueros working with the cattle in the fields.
Lock out Point:
Our lookout point provides a 360 degree view of all the area, including the Rincon de la Vieja and Santa Maria volcanoes, the Guanacaste lowlands and the coastal lines. You can enjoy spectacular sunsets while you drink your favorite beer or the Cocktail of the day during the Happy Hour.
