Detailed Itinerary
DAY 01: San José
Upon arrival to Costa Rica, your Travel agent in Costa Rica will meet you at the airport, in order to deliver further information on the country and the areas you will be staying at. Transfer to Sleep Inn Hotel and lodging.
DAY 02: Sarapiquí
After breakfast we departure to the Poás Volcano is one of the world's largest geysers with an awesome crater, over 1.5 km. wide! The volcano is active, but completely safe for viewing. This tour begins with a beautiful drive through the lush coffee plantations and flower farms of the area. Close to the mid day we arrive to Pozo Azul Hacienda where Magsasay Lodge is located in Sarapiquí. After a great lunch we start the first adventure in mountain bike, aside from the many activities you can enjoy while in Hacienda Pozo Azul, we have though about the mountain bike lovers, so you too, bike fan, can also have an exiting experience. We have identify for you very exciting different routes to match different levels of difficulty. And they range from 2 hours to a two day experience combined with a stay at the exciting Magsasay jungle lodge.
After 2 hours biking you will rest an authentic Eco Experience in Costa Rica with the Braulio Carrillo National Park at your door steps, the 35 year old solid hardwood home was remodeled into 10 comfortable rooms, a large deck putting you practically into the jungle, lighted by solar power. The accent is on excellent food and service in a jungle environment, while you will learn to appreciate the spectacular complexity of the rain forest biodiversity, and the need to preserve it. DAY 03: Arenal
After a refresh breakfast our next adventure this morning is the Canopy Tour.
The exhilarating Costa Rican Invention of zipping trough the tree top canopy in a beautiful jungle setting, with experienced guides and safety features. Canopy tours are offered in many different locations in Costa Rica , certainly a wonderful invention we Costa Ricans feel proud of, and any person visiting Costa Rica needs to experience it.
70 % of all life in the tropical forest takes place at the tree canopy level. And observing it along with the exuberance of the vegetation as you are sensing the thrill zipping though the highs is definitely an extraordinary experience, and you would like to do many times. Canopy tours is being exported to many countries today using Costa Rican experience, and no doubt it will become a popular activity around the world. After the lunch we departure to Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna and lodge in Arenal Paraiso Hotel.or similar
DAY 04: Arenal
This morning our trip begins with a 30-minute 4x4 drive into the tropical rainforest outside the town of La Fortuna, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. We trek through the forest on magical trails that lead to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Costa Rica, a place very few people get to experience. Along the way we will have the chance to discover the secrets that lie hidden deep within the canyon. From the first waterfall we will rappel down from the top into the beautiful and pristine canyon below. The adventure includes four rappels, three of which are along waterfalls, and one dry rock face. Then just a short trek out of the canyon, jump in the vehicles and head back to the base camp. After this exiting adventure enjoy the hotel services because at the end of the noon you will enjoy the Baldi Hot Spring, relax and it enjoys the excellent thermal waters and with the one of but the beautiful Thermal panoramic views of the Zone in Baldí experience of the tranquility and relaxation they are its better company with 10 different pools with different temperatures coming from individual springs and for a nice end day a nice dinner.
DAY 05: Monteverde
After breakfast we leave from La Fortuna early in the morning to the Arenal Dam. A motorboat takes us to the other side of the Arenal Lake, place where the van will be for us. We drive for one and half hours between grasslands and forests. We will climb up over 3300 feet (1 km.) until we reach the cloud forest. This is probably the most spectacular transfer you will find in Costa Rica and lodging in Claro de Luna Lodge or similar.
DAY 06: Monteverde
This morning after breakfast The Selvatura Park will pick you up at the Hotel to enjoy again the Canopy Tour with the different this time you will do it in Cloud Forest and the first one was in Tropical forest.
This Canopy Tour consists of 15 cables and 18 platforms and takes approximately 2.5 or 3 hours. In this tour the visitors will be zipped through each of the cables while attached to a top safety harness and using the best climbing gear available. It is an adventurous tour that elevates adrenaline to the maximum while keeping the safety level as the main goal and optionally through the very own Tarzan Swing. Selvatura Park is one of the longest if not the longest Canopy Tour in Costa Rica. Also it is the only one located inside the actual virgin cloud forest of Monteverde.
After this adventure let´s move to the next relaxing Selvatura's Treetop Walkways is a 1.9 mile (approximately 3 kilometer ) trail that crosses through the cloud forest, in which the visitors will walk through eight different bridges from various lengths ranging between 150 feet ( 50 meters ) up to 510 feet ( 170 meters ) and altitudes ranging between 36 feet ( 12 meters ) up to 180 feet ( 60 meters ). Each of the bridges feature a five foot width, the widest ones in the country, and also a capacity of up to 80 people per bridge making them both the longest and strongest bridge system in Costa Rica. The treetop walkways are suitable for people of all ages and physical condition. The duration of the tour is usually between 1.5 and 2 hours. In the afternoon enjoy some time by yourself visiting the small but beautiful Monteverde community and like the first Quaker settlers, promotes the ideas of peace and friendship. In 1951, Quakers from Alabama. U.S. migrated to Monteverde in the pursuit of a peaceful lifestyle. Since 1951, approximately 4000 people have settled in the Monteverde area.
DAY 07: San José
Today after breakfast we departure to San José but before to get there we will do a extreme stop on the way for Bungee Jump in Naranjo in one of the few bungee bridges in the world. This bridge is 265 feet high and is located over a lush tropical gorge. And about the secure no problem Tropical Bungee uses all UIAA certified original equipment and complies with the highest world safety standards and regulation and also has highly qualified, bilingual jumpmaster. At this time we continue to San José and lodge in Sleep Inn.
DAY 08: San José
Very early in the morning will start the last extreme nature tour Pacuare White Water Rafting. Pacuare is considered the most beautiful river in Costa Rica, and worldwide one of the best whitewater rafting rivers due to the scenic beauty, waterfalls, hiking trails and diversity of flora and fauna, among which participants will observe blue morpho butterflies, sloths, tucans, red frogs and great variety of birds. Thus, nature is present throughout the route.
This is a 3.5-hour journey with approximately 18 miles length.
A Costa Rican breakfast is offered at around 8:00 a.m. in a Paraíso, Cartago town restaurant with a spectacular view of the Orosi Valley.
Then we arrive to Tres Equis, Turrialba, a town where the guides wait for us with the equipment to start this wonderful adventure.
Each participant will receive a life jacket, a helmet and a paddle. One of the guides will give a safety speech and a small practice before facing whitewater rafting like Huacas, Cimarrones and Dos Montañas.
You will be ready to raft 14 miles deep in the heart of densely vegetated gorges, past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids, in one of Costa Rica's most impressive primary rainforests. Breakfast and lunch included on the rout. Lodging in Sleep Inn Hotel.
DAY 09:
After breakfast pick-up at the Hotel and transfer to the International Airport Juan Santamaría.
